I agree, the Bimmer ground strap is usually a braided cable connecting the Engine to the Chassis. It's possible that yours might be located from underneath the vehicle around the engine bay area. You may have to take off the splash protector to get a good view of that area. However, I believe that any suitable heavy gauge cable such as the Twcg3E.
